Our first day of being open for public hours was a success! All we ask is that community members wear a mask inside the building, follow the posted entrance and exit arrows to access the stacks, leave returns outside in the crate OR on the cart as you enter, limit your visit to 15 minutes, and observe social distancing measures with others who may be in the building. We are keeping the number of patrons in the library at one time to five (5) but that wasn’t an issue today either. While we don’t have public computers at this time, the printer and copier are available. Public hours are Wednesdays 10-3 and Saturdays 9-1. M-TH-F we are continuing curbside pick-up, folks can still call or email requests.
Gilbert Hart Library will be closed to the public but open for curbside pick-up of requested materials Monday and Thursday 10-4, Wednesday and Friday 10-3, and Saturday 9-1. Requests may be made via e-mail or a call to the library during these hours. Thanks everyone for their use of this service and patience as we get items to you.
In response to global pandemic COVID19, the Board of Trustees has closed the library to the public. During the current reduced hours posted, (M-W-TH 10-2, SAT 9-12) library staff will be available by telephone or email to fill requests and materials will be processed for pick up outside the front entrance. Please continue to use the drop box for returns. This measure will be reevaluated on 5/12/2020.
Effective March 16, the Gilbert Hart Library will be open 15 hours weekly: Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10am-2pm and Saturdays open 9am-12noon. We anticipate the reduction in hours, which is in response to covid-19, will continue through May 2. The book discussion scheduled for 3/30 has been moved to Monday, May 4, at 4pm. Thanks in advance for your understanding.
~Story times for families on Mondays at 11:00~
Library closed Monday January 20 in observance of MLK day. Call on days on school closings and cancellations to be sure we are open before you visit!
This month finds the library in a festive mood, kicked off by the community tree lighting hosted by the friends on December 1. This is a long standing tradition for Wallingford and the lit tree will brighten our evenings into the new year. Another tradition has become the candy house decorating party for families. This year join us on Staurday December 14 at 10am in the Klock room, there will be time for decorating a candy house and listening to a Dr. Seuss classic of season. Donations of goodies to help folks decorate are welcome right up until the day. The library will be closed December 25 & 26 and January 1, 2020. The rest of the month finds us following our regular hours, including open until 8 on Wednesday the 4th, 11th, & 18th. Let it snow!
